Best Practice in Use of CEIR Statistics

Best Practice in Use of CEIR Statistics

This post written by Nancy Drapeau, PRC

CEIR strives to provide data that is of value to the industry. A measure of our success is its usage in the marketplace.  We have a number of organizations that effectively use this data, for their own exhibit programs, exhibitions or for their clients, to help provide insights that enable them to make sound business decisions. Today, I’d like to highlight an example of sharing CEIR information with a company’s clients and target audience.

I remember meeting Mike Thimmesch, Skyline Exhibits’ director of customer engagement at EXHIBITOR2013. This company had a quiz show as a part of their exhibit, testing attendees on their knowledge of exhibitions, with many of the questions based on CEIR statistics. The data offered exhibitors statistics to use in justifying their exhibit program and offering insights on how to position an exhibit program for success.

Mike has done a nice job converting this information into another fun and informative format. Visit his online article entitled, 16 Powerful Stats on the Value of Trade Shows.

Here is an excerpt from this article:

“At EXHIBITOR 2013 this year, Skyline hosted a game show called “Staggering Trade Show Stats” in our trade show booth. These stats were shared with show attendees to help them justify and maximize their trade show marketing.  You can use these 16 stats to help guide your program, too:

  • B2B exhibitions were 39.2% of B2B marketing budgets in 2011, the largest amount of any other marketing channel.  That number has held fairly steady over the past several years, demonstrating the resilience of trade shows.   Source:  CEIR: The Spend Decision: Analyzing How Exhibits Fit Into The Overall Marketing Budget
  • 81% of trade show attendees have buying authority.  Which means more than 4 out of 5 people walking the aisles are potential customers for exhibitors.  Source:  CEIR: The Spend Decision: Analyzing How Exhibits Fit Into The Overall Marketing Budget”

Thank you Mike for your creativity and educational efforts!

I welcome others to share how they use CEIR statistics to help their organizations, customers or others.
