In our last blog post, Roger Martin-Fagg spoke with Doug in Miami during EXPO! EXPO! Also presenting at IAEE’s annual meeting in December was William Swelbar, Research Engineer at MIT’s International Center for Air Transportation. In this week’s post, he and Doug go over some of the highlights from the presentation.
In his presentation, Bill examined some of the air travel issues affecting the US today, such as:
Who will be flying next year, to where, and at what price?
Will the global and U.S. economies erode attendance at exhibitions?
Bill addresses what is ahead in air travel and how the exhibition industry should plan accordingly.
His PowerPoint slides are located here (along with Roger Martin-Fagg’s) on this PDF.
[Note: There is background nose as the dialogue starts, so it is not as clear as we would have liked. The videographer - me - underestimated the noise in the room.]
With the price of oil down considerably, the landscape of air travel has shifted once again. As always, we welcome your comments and encourage you to share your thoughts on the critical economic impact of these issues on your shows.
