How Green Can You Go?

by Joyce on September 16, 2008

Environmental consciousness is permeating every aspect of the exhibitions and event industry, including promotional products.  The Green theme has Show Organizers concerned with their badges, lanyards and tote bags.  Exhibitors want promotional products giveaways which are “Green”, too.  It has become very important to visibly demonstrate how “Green” you are.

Our carbon footprint is paramount in the eyes of all – the shows, convention centers, hotel conference facilities, exhibitors and the various suppliers to the industry.  Anything and everything we can do to reduce this now and increase the reduction in the future needs to be considered.

The trend towards a greener show is something which will continue to grow over the next few years.  In a recent conversation with John Lord from 4imprint, an IAEE Services partner, we talk about the impact that being eco-friendly is having on their current and future products offerings.

One example John talks about are the tote bags used for every show and how they are made eco-friendly so that when the attendee goes home, these bags can be used on trips to the grocery store – a trend that is both environmentally conscious and increasingly stylish.

4imprint and other suppliers offer many products today that are eco-friendly, from biodegradable pens to golf tees.

What promotional items has your show made use of in order to go green?  An equally important question may be: how have those products been received by your attendees?

Interesting read. I agree with most of what was said. Marketers, and businesspeople in general, have a long way to go, but we are getting there. Also, save the environment!
