Through the recently released CEIR Generational Study, we gained a better understanding of how the up-and-coming, younger demographic of attendees to exhibitions thinks and feels about events. The report also provides insight on producing exhibitions and events that will create a positive, valuable experience for them.
As a result of the study, the areas most identified as important to these young professionals are:
- social functions/networking opportunities (with peers, industry veterans and vendors)
- feeling welcome (providing unique first timers events)
- dissatisfaction with the food service options (prefer healthier choices and lower prices)
- opportunities for exploring and experiencing the destination (while keeping connected to the event)
So, how are you doing? Readers of our blog would love to know…. What has worked for you? What hasn’t worked? Have you enlisted young professionals in the planning stages for your events? Do you plan differently for GenXers and Millenials? And, in what unique or innovative ways are you engaging young professionals?
In addition to this blog, we’ve started a discussion group on LinkedIn in the hopes of engaging readers in a new dialogue about generational planning and marketing…just click here to sign in and check it out.
