It was a tough year for the exhibitions and events industry. The newly published 2010 Index reveals a year-over-year decline of 12.5 percent – a decline that is four times greater than any previous year recorded.
Those fortunate enough to march on (Tradeshow Week announced its closing last week) must see 2010 as an opportunity – and the new CEIR Index helps shed some light on how recovery will take place and when it will happen.
This year’s CEIR Index publication is a wonderfully rich report. In addition to a review of 2009 performance and future outlook of the exhibition industry, the 2010 report features nearly ten pages of economic indicators. These gauges (employment, personal spending, credit, and housing, just to name a few) are explained in depth – what they are and why they should be used to monitor economic change.
CEIR and IAEE members can download the CEIR Index at a substantially reduced rate at www.ceir.org now – and exhibition industry stakeholders at all levels owe it to themselves to take advantage of the knowledge the Index offers in this year of opportunity.
